BU erased an early five-run deficit before the Cardinals rallied in extras
While Baylor rallied from an early 6-1 deficit to take an 8-7 lead, the Cardinals scored in six of the nine innings, including the final two in the top of the ninth.
Baylor's second extra innings loss in four games dropped them to 23-15 (6-6), while Lamar won its 14th-straight to improve to 25-15 (11-4).
RUNDOWN
Lamar struck first in the opening frame, capitalizing on a two-out RBI double to take a 1-0 lead. Baylor responded immediately in the bottom half as Brooklyn Carter doubled, stole third and scored on an Amber Toven sacrifice fly to even the game at 1-1.
The Cardinals used a three-run third inning, taking advantage of two Baylor errors, to regain control at 4-1. Lamar added two more in the fifth and a solo home run in the sixth to extend its lead to 7-3.
Baylor answered in a big way in the fifth inning, scoring five runs on four hits to surge in front, 8-7. RBI singles from Lexie Warncke and Gianna Gusman, along with a two-run single from Toven, highlighted the rally as the Bears seized momentum late.
Down to its final out, Lamar shocked itself back to life with a solo home run off the bat of Roxy Thompson in the seventh, forcing extra innings at 8-8.
In the ninth, Lamar delivered the decisive blow with a two-run double to take a 10-8 lead. Baylor was unable to answer in the bottom half, as the Cardinals closed out the extra-inning victory, handing BU its first loss of the season when leading after six.

QUOTABLE
Glenn Moore on the loss— "I think it goes back to the way we won games earlier in the year. I warned them then that if you play this way consistently, percentages say you're not going to keep winning them. Now we're not able to come back and win those games that we won early."
Moore on getting back to their winning ways— "If we didn't know [the good play] was there, then, we would just kind of — I'd never say throw in the towel — but it might be more acceptable. But the fact that we've played well against good competition. It tells you that it's there, and we're capable of doing it. We've just got to do it."
Moore on Lexi Warncke's night in the circle and at the plate — "That was my only good move I made tonight. She almost left the park a couple of times. Lexi looks good in batting practice, but the fact that we need her out of the bullpen and we've got a couple of good hitters on the bench, we haven't really bumped her up into that position. Losing Karynton, we lost some power, and we knew she had power, so I was trying to add that to the lineup, but she worked her way into probably getting another start here pretty quickly in the lineup. She looked really good. She looked comfortable."
Warncke on her two-way night — "As a pitcher, I see both sides of the game. When I'm pitching, I'm going against the hitter, and when I'm hitting, I'm going against the pitching, so it's kind of cool to know both sides of the game and what each side is looking for. It's actually really fun, it's not hard, I actually find it really fun."
