LED BY EACH OTHER, FOUR BEARS TAKE ULTIMATE STEP
One thing that has not changed for Baylor Athletics? A deeply embedded commitment to the mission of the University to change lives through the spiritual growth of its student-athletes.
NEW FRONT PORCH
"Football Saturdays can be a gateway to the university, and events like Fan Fest help create that bridge," AD Doug McNamee said. "If we can give people a great experience the first time, that's how you grow something that lasts."
LEAVING A LEGACY
In the changing world of college football, with the transfer portal, NIL and roster limits, a rags-to-riches story like Josh Cameron's may never happen again. But what a story it's been. A zero-star recruit when he signed with Baylor out of Cedar Park High School as a preferred walk-on in 2021, Cameron developed into an All-American punt returner, one of the top receivers in the country and a legitimate prospect for next month's NFL Draft.
FRESH START
One thing is very clear, Joe Klanderman wasn't brought to Baylor as the defensive coordinator to keep the status quo. "There will be considerable changes to what we do and what we may look like," the 46-year-old Klanderman said at Dec. 15's introductory press conference.
KEEPING THEM HOME
With a goal of "keeping the 254 in the 254," Baylor head coach Dave Aranda announced a 2026 signing class on Wednesday, Dec. 3 that included wide receivers London Smith from Waco University High School and Davion Peters from just down the road in Temple.
CHIP ON HIS SHOULDER
Rather than announcing the three finalists on Tuesday, maybe the Burlsworth Trophy committee should just go ahead and hand the award to receiver/punt returner Josh Cameron. The former walk-on from Cedar Park, Texas, had career highs with 13 catches for 165 yards, scored twice and added two punt returns for 27 yards.
FROM WALK-ON TO HALL OF FAME
Like a traveling door-to-door salesman, Derek Turner took his football highlight reel from tiny Deer Creek High School in Edmond, Okla., hit the road and went to school after school, just "trying to figure out who would take me."
GOOD STORIES TO TELL
During Baylor's bye week, Michael Allen, quarterback Sawyer Robertson and tight end Matthew Klopfenstein baptized 10 of their teammates.
THIS IS THE STANDARD
True freshman running back Caden Knighten certainly met the standard on Homecoming. . . and then some. He rushed for a career-high 104 yards on 21 carries and added one catch for 22 yards, totaling 126 yards on 22 touches.
BE LIKE MIKE
Leading the team in rushing for the second-straight week, the true freshman from North Richland Hills, Texas, had 90 yards and one touchdown rushing on 14 carries (6.4-yard average) and added three catches for 19 yards.
