500 AND COUNTING
In his 23 seasons at Baylor, Scott Drew has had some memorable Senior Night games, but nothing like this. On a night when the Bears honored first-year seniors Obi Agbim, Caden Powell, Michael Rataj and Dan Skillings Jr., Baylor dominated the Utah Utes, 101-75, at Foster Pavilion for Drew's 500th career win.
THE BAYLOR CONNECTION
Somewhere, stashed away in Connie Powell Nichols' treasured keepsakes, is a picture of a young Caden Powell standing next to Scott Drew at a Baylor basketball camp. It was a connection that eventually brought the 6-foot-10 Powell back to Waco for his senior year of college basketball after stops at Wyoming and Rice.
FIVE MINUTES OF FAME
"I've been in college for three years, and to be able to touch the floor and be out there with my teammates and really represent the culture of JOY was a great thing," James Goodis said. "It's very surreal."
TWO FOR ONE
While Scott Drew has typically relied on one point guard through most of his 23 seasons at Baylor, he's got more of a point guard-by-committee approach with fifth-year senior transfer Obi Agbim from Wyoming and sophomore Isaac Williams IV from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
BENCH MOB
"I like how we don't get rattled through adversity, and we all believe in each other," guard Isaac Williams said, who was 5-of-8 from the floor and hit his only 3-point attempt. "If they go on a little run or whatever, we know we're still in it. And we're always going to be in it, no matter the time of the game. Just us believing and fighting through adversity."
'I WAS A PART OF THAT'
Ten years after his Baylor basketball career ended as the program's all-time leading scorer, LaceDarius Dunn was playing professionally overseas in Tel Aviv, Israel, when the Bears captured the 2021 national championship with a dominant win over Gonzaga. But even eight time zones away, he "celebrated like I was part of the team."
