The annual award recognizes a BU SB fan who goes above and beyond supporting the program
WACO, Texas – Baylor Softball has named Dr. Alan Lefever the recipient of the 2026 Tori Birk-Luke Bear Award, presented annually to a fan who goes above and beyond in supporting the Bears.
A familiar face behind home plate at Getterman Stadium, Lefever has been a consistent presence in supporting Baylor Softball, bringing a strong passion for the program to games and events throughout the year.
"Dr. Lefever is one of the most beloved and respected faculty members at Baylor," head coach Glenn Moore said. "He and his wife Sara have supported Baylor athletics forever. His voice at our softball games is well known, and I have to believe his advice to the officials has helped us win many games."
First presented in 2003, the Bear Award was renamed in 2004 in honor of former Baylor softball player Tori Birk-Luke, who played for the Bears from 1996-99 before tragically passing away in a car accident in August of 2004.
Birk-Luke was survived by her husband, Jon, and their infant son, Hunter, who also survived the accident. Hunter went on to play wide receiver at Kansas before transferring to UT Rio Grande Valley, where he currently plays.
The award continues to honor the spirit of dedication and support that makes the Baylor Softball community special, recognizing fans whose commitment to the Bears extends well beyond the field.
