SB Readies for Annual Green and Gold World Series

The first of a best-of-three game set begins Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
Baylor softball opens its annual Green and Gold World Series Saturday at 10 a.m. at Getterman Stadium, as the Bears continue preparations for the 2027 season.
Welcoming a top-25 transfer class, according to D1Softball.com, head coach Glenn Moore will use the intrasquad series to evaluate the roster, with upperclassmen leading the teams and players competing for roles throughout the lineup.
"The upperclassmen are doing the coaching, so it's fun to sit back and evaluate how they interact, deal with adversity, handle challenges and see their competitiveness come out," Moore said. "You want competitors, and this tells us a lot about the nature of their competitiveness and who's going to compete when we're playing an opponent in the spring."
Junior infielder Faith Piper said the series brings out the team's competitive edge while helping teammates build chemistry that can carry into the spring.
"This gets really competitive. It gets really amped up, honestly," Piper said. "It's really cool to be able to compete against each other. You get to see people's competitive sides, and then you can look back on it in the spring and remember how competitive and fierce we were."
Junior pitcher Peyton Tanner said the competitive environment helps prepare the Bears for high-pressure situations during the season.
"We just do a good job of making it competitive so that we can really simulate what it's going to be like in the spring," Tanner said. "Last year, when I would have bases loaded, Faith [Piper] would look at me and say, 'We've been here, Green and Gold.' Honestly, that was something that would get me through to the next inning in the spring, too."
The series continues Monday at 4:30 p.m., with a deciding game scheduled for Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., if necessary. All games will be played at Getterman Stadium and are free and open to the public.
