BOULDER, Colo. – No. 34 Baylor (13-7, 8-4 Big 12) defeated the University of Colorado (10-12, 2-10 Big 12) 4-1 on Thursday at the Meadows Club. Baylor secured the doubles point with victories on courts 1 and 2, then clinched the match with singles wins at positions 1, 2, and 4. Colorado managed a singles victory at the No. 6 spot, but it was not enough to challenge the Bears' lead.
THE RUNDOWN
Baylor secured the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 1 doubles. Na Dong and Alian Zack delivered a 6-2 win over Lani Brotman and Aya El Sayed at No. 2 doubles, while Zuzanna Kubacha and Gabrielle Villegas followed with a 6-3 victory against Lera Alexin and Rixt van der Werff at No. 1 doubles. The match at No. 3 doubles, featuring Kennedy Gibbs and Luna Ivkovic against Ema Bubalo and Anya Nelson, was left unfinished with BU leading 5-4.
In singles, BU extended its lead with a decisive performance. Zack clinched a swift win at No. 4 singles, defeating Alexin 6-0, 6-1. Kubacha, ranked No. 114, added another point at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Bubalo.
Dong, ranked No. 61, secured the clinching fourth point at No. 1 singles, overcoming van der Werff 6-4, 6-4.
