Armstrong hit .438 with three homers in BU’s undefeated week
WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball redshirt senior first baseman Tyce Armstrong has been named to Baseball America's National College Team of the Week, as announced by the publication on Tuesday morning.
The honor roll features players at every position, including the top-performing two-way player and four pitchers. It also includes a designated hitter spot, which serves as a wild card to recognize an elite performer at any position. While statistical output is the primary driver of selections, strength of competition and underlying data also factors into the process.
Armstrong hit .438 on the week and slugged 1.188, going 7-for-16 with three home runs, three doubles and six RBIs. He also scored eight runs and swiped two bases on his way to being named the first baseman on BA's Week 7 team. Additionally, Armstrong was one of 29 Division I players to record six or more barrels on the week, as he led Baylor to an undefeated 4-0 slate against UIW and Houston.
The native of Magnolia, Texas, had a strong homecoming in the Bayou City, as he drove in a run with five of his seven hits on the week and logged the second multi-HR game by a Bear this year on Friday night at UH. His three home runs on the week were his eighth, ninth and 10th of the season, as he produced just the 11th double-digit home run season by a Bear since 2012. The performance also marked Armstrong's sixth multi-hit and team-leading sixth multi-RBI effort of the 2026 campaign.
For the year, Armstrong leads the Bears with a .657 slugging percentage and carries a seven-game hitting streak into Tuesday night's contest against Tarleton State. He ranks sixth in the Big 12 with 10 home runs and 10th in the league with 35 RBIs. This is Armstrong's second National Team of the Week selection this season and first since his Opening Day three-grand slam performance.
