Scott boosted the Bears to a 2-0 week through the Big 12
IRVING, Texas – Baylor women's basketball redshirt sophomore Taliah Scott has been named to the Big 12 Starting Five for the sixth time this season, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
The Orange Park, Fla., native averaged 21.5 points in Baylor's wins at Cincinnati and against Arizona State. She made seven 3-pointers for the week and went 14-for-16 from the free-throw line while averaging just over 35 minutes per game.
Scott's honor is Baylor's 149th all-time weekly award from the Big 12. It also marks her eighth overall weekly accolade, including two selections as a USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week, one of multiple weekly honors presented nationally by the organization.
The Big 12 also recognized TCU's Olivia Miles as Player of the Week and Kansas' Jaliya Davis as Freshman of the Week, and recognized Colorado's Jade Masogayo and West Virginia's Jordan Harrison as additional top performers.
Through only 47 career appearances, Scott has totaled 990 points, 487 of them in a Baylor uniform, and is just 10 away from hitting the 1,000‑point milestone heading into the Bears' next matchup.
No. 12 Baylor hosts No. 17 TCU on Thursday at Foster Pavilion in the first of two remaining regular-season matchups between the rival schools. The game tips at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN and the Baylor Sports Media Network and features several promotions, including Go Gold presented by Magnolia Realty, pregame entertainment from nationally recognized magician Carl Michael, student shuttle services, gold jersey giveaways and concession specials.
Tickets, including a Go Gold package with a replica gold jersey and $5 upper bowl seats, are available through the Baylor Athletics ticket office.
Baylor women's basketball is presented by Central National Bank, a family-owned, independent bank headquartered in Waco, Texas, that provides uniquely personal service while simultaneously embracing the latest developments in banking technology.
