WACO, Texas – Baylor women's basketball unofficially opens its season at 2 p.m. Sunday against West Texas A&M in a preseason exhibition at the Paul and Alejandra Foster Pavilion, with free admission open to the public.
The game will not be streamed live, but the Baylor Sports Media Network will provide play-by-play on the Baylor Athletics YouTube page, with Derek Smith and Lori Fogleman on the call.
The Bears open the regular season at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, against Fairleigh Dickinson and enter the year receiving votes in both the AP and USA Today preseason polls.
Picked third by Big 12 coaches, Baylor returns Taliah Scott, a unanimous All-Big 12 preseason selection who was the conference's No. 2 scorer last season at 19.7 points per game. Kyla Abraham is back for a fifth season, one of just two players in the league to spend all five years of eligibility with the same team. Ella Brow and Marcayla Johnson also return for their second seasons in Waco, while juniors Ines Goryanova and Kayla Nelms are in their third.
Baylor coach Nicki Collen welcomes six newcomers: Tianna Thompson of Ole Miss, Trinity Turner of Georgia and Kate Koval of LSU from the SEC; Lorena Awou of N.C. State, who enrolled last spring but is eligible to play for the first time this season, and Skylar Jones of Louisville from the ACC; and Reese Ross of Utah.
Baylor women's basketball is presented by Central National Bank, a family-owned, independent bank headquartered in Waco, Texas, that provides uniquely personal service while simultaneously embracing the latest developments in banking technology.
