Scott earns preseason praise after WBCA All-America honorable mention debut season in Waco
IRVING, Texas – Baylor's Taliah Scott has been named a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 Preseason Team, as chosen by the league's coaches and announced Thursday by the conference office.
Baylor is one of eight teams represented on the squad and one of four with a unanimous selection.
In her first season in Waco, Scott started 32 of 33 games and averaged 19.7 points per game, reaching double figures 30 times and leading the Bears in scoring 27 times. She earned All-Big 12 First Team honors and WBCA All-America honorable mention and became the 22nd player since 2000 to reach 1,000 career points in 48 games or fewer, tying for the 19th-fewest games needed in that span.
Scott set the Baylor single-season record for free throw percentage, going 205-of-229 (89.5%) from the line. Her 205 makes rank No. 5 in program history for a season, and her career-high 13 at Oklahoma State tied for the ninth-most in a game by a Bear. She also set the single-season school record with 249 3-point attempts and tied for No. 3 on the single-season list with 80 made.
Her season-high 32 points came against Iowa, when she hit six 3-pointers, and she recorded her first career double-double against Southeastern Louisiana with 23 points and a career-high 10 assists.
Scott was named to the Big 12 Starting Five seven times, won Big 12 Player of the Week twice and was a two-time UBSWA Ann Meyers-Drysdale National Player of the Week. She also made the Midseason Top 10 for the Ann Meyers-Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Award, was included on ESPN's Mid-Season Top 25 list and was a member of the 2026 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Late-Season Team.
In the Coaches Preseason Poll, Baylor was picked third with two first-place votes and 199 points, trailing Oklahoma State (215 points) and TCU (212 points).
Season tickets for the 2026-27 season remain on sale, starting at $130 and guaranteeing fans the best deal to secure a seat inside Foster Pavilion. Single-game tickets will be dynamically priced, with prices adjusted in real time based on market demand and opponent, and will go on sale at a later date.
Baylor is coming off a 25-9 campaign in 2025-26, finishing third in the Big 12 while extending the nation's second-longest active streaks of 20-win seasons (26) and consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (22). The Bears led the conference in blocks per game and 3-point percentage defense and ranked 14th nationally in field-goal percentage defense. Building on success, Baylor owns the most victories among Big 12 teams since head coach Nicki Collen took the program's reins ahead of the 2021-22 season, while Collen ranks third among active major conference head coaches in wins through their first five seasons at their current school and fifth in winning percentage in that same category.
The 2026-27 season kicks off with an exhibition against West Texas A&M on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Foster Pavilion before the season officially begins with Fairleigh Dickinson on Monday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m. CT on the Banks of the Brazos.
