
Baylor Travels to Face No. 24/24 Cincinnati on Saturday

WACO, Texas -- Baylor football will conclude a two-game road swing with a 3 p.m. CT kickoff at No. 21 Cincinnati on Saturday at Nippert Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and the Baylor Sports Media Network.
Baylor (4-3, 2-2 Big 12 Conference) will face off with Cincinnati (6-1, 4-0 Big 12) for the second time in series history, with Baylor winning the last meeting, in 2023 at Nippert Stadium.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
• The Bearcats come into the matchup with Baylor with a 6-1 record and a 4-0 mark in conference play in 2025, their third year in the Big 12. UC joined the Big 12 after time in the Big East (2005-13), Conference USA (1995-12) and the American Athletic Conference (2013-22).
• The Bearcats lost their season opener vs. Nebraska, before ripping off six straight wins entering the Baylor game, which included wins over Bowling Green and Northwestern State, and over Kansas, No. 14 Iowa State, UCF and Oklahoma State in conference play. UC posted a 49-17 win over OSU last weekend in Stillwater, totaling 427 yards of total offense, including 270 passing and 157 rushing.
• Cincinnati averages 37.9 points per game, including 446.4 yards of total offense, with 185.4 rushing and 261 passing. UC holds opponents to just 18.9 points per game, including 383.4 in total offense, including 143.3 rushing and 240.1 passing.
• QB Brendan Sorsby has charted one of the best seasons in college football, throwing for 1,718 yards with 17 TDs and just one interception, while rushing for 340 yards and six TDs. Evan Pryor leads the team with 53 rushes for 412 yards and two TDs, whiel Tawee Walker has rushed for 382 yards and three TDs. Cyrus Allen leads the team with 30 catches for 331 yards and seven TDs.
• Jake Golday leads the team with 62 tackles, including three for a loss and three sacks in 2025. Matthew McDoom has the only interception on the year for UC and Logan Wilson has six PBUs and Christian Harrison has five PBUs.
• Scott Satterfield is in his third season at UC after four seasons at Louisville, where he went 25-24. A native of Durham, N.C., Satterfield was the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year while leading Appalachian State from 2013-18, owning a 51-24 overall record, including a 38-10 mark in conference play that saw three straight titles and bowl wins. An App State grad, Satterfield previously coached with the Mountaineers from 1998-2008, before a season at Toledo and two seasons as the OC at FIU.
• Tyson Veidt is in his second season as the defensive coordinator at UC, which followed eight seasons at iowa State sa the linebackers coach . Brad Glenn is the offensive coordinator and joined the UC staff after three seasons as the OC at Georgia State. Glenn previously coached at Western Carolina and App State. Luke Paschall is the special teams coordinator.
LAST MEETING
• Baylor improved to 2-0 on the road in 2023 with a 32-29 win over Cincinnati in the first meeting between the two schools. The Bears used a strong passing attack and a strong defensive effort in the secondary to earn the win over UC.
• Baylor got 316 yards passing from Blake Shapen, who threw and rushed for a TD. Jake Roberts hauled in the TD pass, while Ketron Jackson Jr. had a career-high 130 yards receiving on five catches and Monaray Baldwin had seven catches for 49 yards. Defensively Matt Jones chipped in nine tackles and a TFL, breaking up two passes. TJ Franklin had 1.5 tackles for a loss, with Gabe Hall adding a sack.
• Isaiah Hankins made history with four field goals, connecting from 43, 45, 46 and a career-long 54 yards out. His 54 yard field goal was tied for the sixth-longest in program history and his four field goals tied the school record, done nine times and most recently in 2017 by Connor Martin vs. OU. Hankins is 15 of 18 in field-goal attempts in 2023, including 10 of 10 from inside 40 yards and 5 of 8 from 40+.
TCU RUNS PAST BEARS IN FORT WORTH
• Baylor saw TCU erase a first-quarter lead with 21 points in the second quarter and the Frogs were able to hold off a late charge from the Bears to post a 42-36 win in the 121st edition of the most-played rivalry game in the state of Texas.
• Baylor fell behind 42-21 in the second half as the team battled three lightening delays over two hours and 16 minutes. A late rally saw Keaton Thomas return a fumble for a TD, and the Bears went on a 95 yard drive that cut the lead to 42-36 with 30 seconds left. After grabbing an onside kick, the Bears had a chance to win the game with the ball on the TCU 48 yard line but an interception ended the game.
• Sawyer Robertson threw for 318 yards and two TDs, with Josh Cameron owning eight catches for 86 yards, Ashtyn Hawkins catching seven balls for 95 yards and Kole Wilson hauling in a TD on three catches for 53 yards. Freshmen Michael Turner and Caden Knighten carried the load in the running game, with Turner setting new career highs with 12 carries for 68 yards and Knighten toting it 10 times for 42 yards.
BAYLOR VS. TOP-25 FOES
• Baylor beat SMU in its first ranked matchup of the year and first since facing Utah and BYU last year.
• BU is 60-199-6 against ranked foes all-time. In 2021, Baylor went 5-1 against ranked teams, including wins in four-straight chances, and three straight against top-eight foes.
• Under Coach Dave Aranda, the Bears are 6-14 vs. AP top-25 ranked foes.
• By comparison, former coach Art Briles lost 14 straight games against ranked foes to open his career, going 11-22 against ranked opponents in his career. Jim Grobe went 0-2 in his season in Waco, and Matt Rhule went 0-11 against ranked opponents at Baylor.
