April 7, 2015 WACO, Texas - The Big 12 Conference named Baylor softball's junior right-handed pitcher
Heather Stearns the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week Tuesday. It marked the second time this season that Stearns has collected the award.
She improved to 4-0 in Big 12 play over the weekend and 12-5 overall with a pair of wins in No. 14 Baylor's sweep of Texas Tech. She bookended the series with wins in game No.1 and No. 3. She tossed a complete-game shutout Thursday in a 3-0 win over the Red Raiders. She allowed only five hits and struck out 10 in the win.
Stearns fanned nine more in eight innings of work Saturday as the Bears needed nine innings to defeat the Red Raiders, 6-5 in extra innings to complete the sweep.
All in all for the week, she tossed 15.0 innings, allowed 12 hits, four runs, walked three and struck out 19 with a 1.87 ERA and a 2-0 record vs. Tech.
