April 21, 2015 WACO, Texas - Freshman Shelby Friudenberg was honored as the Big 12 Hitter of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. The Baylor first baseman hit three home runs and drove in five, including two home runs at No. 5 Oklahoma this past weekend.
Friudenberg has hit safely in 15 of the last 17 games for Baylor, and she has her batting average above the .400 mark through 42 games. She set the single-season home run mark for a Bear freshman Friday when she belted her 13th home run of the year in Norman at Oklahoma. She passed three-time all-American Brette Reagan's previous mark for Baylor set in 2006.
She finished up with another home run at OU Saturday in the series finale, and she homered in Baylor's midweek game April 14 vs. Houston Baptist.
All in all, Friudenberg finished the week 6-for-9 at the plate with four runs scored, three homers and five RBI.
