Stearns fanned 10 batters to improve to 11-5 on the season and threw her first shutout since Feb. 14. With one out and two runners on in the bottom of the seventh, Scroggins made a diving catch on a deep fly off the bat of Kristi Belshe and collided with the centerfield wall to uphold the shutout and send the Red Raider base runners retreating. Stearns struck out Sarah Weber to end the game.

THEY SAID IT
Glenn Moore on Heather Stearns' performance ... "We made some good plays. I thought we swung the bat well, I thought we played a solid game. [Cara] Custer was throwing hard tonight. It's hard to see the ball at this time of the day and we only struck out twice. I'm pretty happy with the way we performed. I still don't think we're anywhere where we need to be, but I think we're headed in the right direction."
Glenn Moore on Jessie Scroggins' catch in the seventh ...
"One of the best catches I've ever seen in my life right there. She was playing somewhat in and had to turn and run and get it. Who knows, it might have saved the game on that catch, they certainly had the momentum in their favor, if they get a couple of runs right there, it's going to be tough to come back from."
