Jones Named 2015 Ben Hogan Award Semifinalist

FORT WORTH, Texas - Baylor men's golf senior Kyle Jones is one of 10 semifinalists for the Ben Hogan Award, presented by the Colonial Country Club, The Friends of Golf (FOG) and the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday.

The Ben Hogan Award is the most prestigious award in men's collegiate golf, and is presented annually to the top college golfer. The award takes into account all collegiate and amateur events played during the past 12 months. The Ben Hogan Award Selection Committee is made up of leaders in professional, amateur and collegiate golf.

Jones, who is ranked 10th nationally in the latest GolfStat player rankings, has placed among the top 15 individuals in all 10 regular season events during the 2014-15 season. The Snowflake, Ariz., native has also competed well in amateur events, winning the Southwestern Amateur in the summer of 2014, and placing second in the Jones Cup Invitational at the start at of 2015.

Jones leads Baylor with a 70.24 stroke average and has shot par or better in 22 of 29 rounds during his senior season. He won the 2015 UTSA Oak Hills Invitational, becoming the event's first-ever three-time winner, and he's finished among the top four individuals in seven of 10 tournaments in the 2014-15 season.

The three finalists for the Ben Hogan Award will be announced on May 6. The 2015 winner will named at a black-tie banquet at Colonial Country Club on May 18. For more information about The Ben Hogan Award, its candidates or its previous winners, visit TheBenHoganAward.org.

The Bears, who are currently ranked 17th nationally in the latest GolfStat rankings, will next compete in the Big 12 Men's Golf Championship, which runs April 27-29.
