The incoming junior will have two seasons of eligibility remaining
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's golf head coach John-Paul Hebert announced the addition of his first signee, inking Jack Murphy from the University of Washington on Tuesday.
Murphy arrives in Waco after spending the last two seasons with the Huskies, where he competed in 57 rounds across 19 tournaments with a career stroke average of 73.6. Hebert looks forward to adding a player with Murphy's experience to his roster.
"We're excited about this addition to our golf team," he said. "Jack is a well-rounded young man and a very experienced competitor. His attitude and his passion for the game will have a positive impact on everyone around him."
A native of Blackrock, Ireland, Murphy posted a 73.5 scoring average across 30 rounds this season, while recording four rounds in the 60s and eight rounds under par. His top finish came at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate, where he tied for 21st after carding an even-par 216. He also turned in one of his best performances of the season at the Amer Ari Invitational, shooting a 9-under 207 in Kohala Coast, Hawaii.
As a freshman, he made nine appearances, carding his first-career top-10 finish at the Southwestern Invitational, one of three tournaments where he led the team in scoring.
During his junior career, he won the 2024 O'Callaghan Cup while also competing for the Ireland U-18 National Team.
Murphy joins a Baylor squad with five returners, spearheaded by seniors Davis Ovard and Alex Heard. The Bears will aim to get back to the postseason as a team for the first time since 2024, but have had postseason representation in 26 of the last 27 seasons.
