April 1, 2015 WACO, Texas - Baylor senior outfielder Kaitlyn Thumann was selected by the Dallas Charge in the sixth round of the National Fastpitch League college draft Wednesday in Nashville, Tenn.
Thumann becomes the eighth player selected in professional softball drafts and the first since 2009 when Brette Reagan by the Philadelphia Force in the first round.
Wednesday night's draft featured the five NPF teams competing in 2015: USSSA Pride, Chicago Bandits, PA Rebellion, Akron Racers and the newly-formed Dallas Charge.
"We are excited that Kaitlyn will have the opportunity to play at the highest level the sport offers," said Baylor head coach Glenn Moore. "She is a great hitter, and I'm glad the Dallas Charge organization recognized that."
Thumann recently passed 200 career hits, and has the chance to leave as Baylor's all-time hitter. She set a single-season record for runs scored for the Bears last season with 60, she's a two-time All-Big 12 conference award winner and a 2014 NFCA All-Region honoree.
Along with Thumann and Reagan, former Bears Cristin Vitek, Stephanie Pomes, Kelly Osburn, Ashley Monceaux, Chelsi Lake and Lisa Ferguson were all drafted by the NFP.
