THE RUNDOWN
SANTEE, Calif. - The No. 15 Baylor softball team took a pair of wins to open its portion of the San Diego Classic II Friday with a 4-1 win over BYU and a 12-2 win over the hosts, San Diego State.
Heather Stearns scattered nine hits and struck out 11 in a complete-game win for the Bears over the Cougars. Ari Hawkins and Jordan Strickland each had RBI singles in the win, and Strickland picked up her 150th career hit with her second hit of the ball game.
Baylor (16-6) pounded out 15 hits in the win over the Aztecs (16-10) with Jessie Scroggins leading the charge with a 3-for-4 performance that included two RBI. Nine different Bears had RBI in the game and Kendall Potts picked up her third win of the season in four innings of work.
BU VS. SDSU NOTES
? Jessie Scroggins tied a season-high with three hits, scored a run, and drove in two for the Bears. She hit her third double of the season, which scored two runs in the second inning. It was the second multiple RBI game of the season for the freshman.
? Lindsey Cargill finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI; it marked the 13th game this season she's had multiple hits, and the third game with three or more.
? Cargill stole her 10th base of the season to match last year's freshman total of 10.
? Sarah Smith finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. It was her fourth game of the season with multiple hits.
? Sydney Christensen drove home two runs for the first multiple RBI game of her college career with her first collegiate double in the fifth.
? Christy Lisenby finished 2-for-4 with two RBI; it was both her second multiple RBI and multiple-hit game of the season.
? Caitlin Charlton finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored; it marked the second time this season she's had multiple hits in a game.
? Kendall Potts improved to 3-1 on the season with four innings pitched; she allowed just one earned runs and scattered four hits.

? Jordan Strickland finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, and her second single of the game was the 150th hit of her career.
? Heather Stearns improved to 6-5 on the season with her fourth complete game of the year, and she reached double-digit strikeouts in a game for the third time this season with 11.
? Ari Hawkins finished 2-for-3 for her third multiple-hit game of the season, and she drove in a run as well.
? Robin Landrith finished 2-for-2 with a pair of singles to record her third multiple-hit game of the season.
? Friudenberg finished 2-for-3 with a a run scored and recorded her sixth multiple hit game of the year.
