WACO - The No. 15 Baylor softball team (16-5) recorded a pair of 3-1 wins for the doubleheader sweep over Louisiana Tech (10-11) Tuesday evening at Getterman Stadium. The Lady Bears registered 17 hits on the night.

"We had really a really good approach at the plate tonight," head coach Glenn Moore said. "Even our outs were hard hits. Now we need a couple days of good, focused practice to prepare for Arizona."

Game One
No. 15 Baylor 3, Louisiana Tech 1

Megan Turk delivered a two-RBI single in the first inning and the Lady Bears never looked back en route to a 3-1 win in game one.

Kayce Walker and Jordan Strickland each added a pair of hits, while Kathy Shelton collected the third RBI for BU.

Courtney Repka (7-2) earned the win, going 5.0 innings, allowing five hits, one run, three walks and striking out one. Liz Paul picked up her second save of the year, allowing just one hit in two innings of work.

Walker led off the bottom of the first with an infield single to shortstop and stole second with one out. Shelton drew a walk and a Redfearn groundout advanced the runners to second and third. Turk then delivered a single to left center that scored Walker and Shelton for the early 2-0 lead.

The Lady Bears upped their lead to three on a sac fly to left from Shelton that scored Sydney Wilson, who reached on a fielder's choice.

The Lady Techsters cut into the Baylor lead in the fifth on a Katelynn Hill single through the right side that scored Dacia Hale, who tripled to start to the two-out rally.

Paul came on and shut the door in the sixth and seventh to preserve the 3-1 win.

Game Two
No. 15 Baylor 3, Louisiana Tech 1

Baylor had four players notch two hits apiece, and finally broke through with three runs in its final two innings to complete the sweep with another 3-1 victory.

The pitching roles reversed in game two, as Paul (3-2) picked up the win and Repka grabbed the save. Paul went 6.0 innings, giving up six hits, one run, one walk and one strikeout. Repka came on and pitched a perfect seventh for her first save of the season.

Walker, Shelton, Shelbi Redfearn and Kelsi Kettler each had two hits for BU.

The game was scoreless until the fifth, when Baylor used a squeeze bunt by Redfearn to get on the scoreboard. Delaney Guy reached first on a fielder's choice and Shelton doubled to right center with one out to reach scoring position. Redfearn laid down a squeeze bunt and beat the throw to first, but the throw from the catcher hit her and bounced away, allowing Shelton to come in from second for a 2-0 lead.

Tech cut the lead in half on an RBI-single from Hill, scoring Hale, who doubled.

The Lady Bears added an insurance run in the third when Kettler led off the inning with her first career triple, a liner down the right field line. Kaitlyn Thumann came on to pinch run and Strickland promptly hit a sac fly to center for an RBI and a two-run lead.

Repka worked a three at-bat seventh for the save to preserve the win.

Baylor will next host No. 13 Arizona (16-4) for a three-day, three-game series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.
