Recap | Box Score

Head Coach Steve Smith

On the offensive production:
"I honestly didn't feel like we swung the bats that well except for the guys that haven't been playing. Dan (Evatt) put a charge in one, (Cal) Towey swung it pretty good two or three times and we got a bunch of RBI out of three guys that haven't been playing. Other than that, I didn't see a lot."

On the performance of Trent Blank, Jon Ringenberg and Shawn Tolleson:
"What happened tonight was exactly what I had hoped would happen. I was trying to get three innings apiece out of our three pitchers. I would have rather had (Shawn Tolleson) and Jon (Ringenberg) not throw 60-plus pitches to do it. It is what it is. They got it done. I thought Trent Blank was really sharp at the beginning of the game. That might have been as good as I've seen him throw in two years."

On Jon Ringenberg's second inning of work:
"It is always good to follow a good offensive inning with a good defensive inning. The guys are learning how to play the game one inning at a time. You just play to win each inning. If you do that, you are going to win the game. Giving up the runs wasn't that big of deal. I think it was a big deal for Jon (Ringenberg), after he faced eight hitters in his first inning, to be able to go back out and punch out the side. That was pretty significant."

Sophomore DH Dan Evatt:

On his first homerun of the season:
"It was nice to get off of the goose-egg and finally get a homerun. It is even better to be back out here competing and helping the team out."

On the offense putting up runs:
"It feels good, but we know we can do that so it's not like it is a huge surprise for us. It was nice to come back hitting tonight after a (bad) weekend."

Freshman OF Cal Towey

On the offense putting up runs:
"It feels good to show that we can put up runs like that. It is always good to get a win too in midweek games."

On rebounding to get the win after this past weekend:
"We have the bats and pitching to do something pretty good. It is always fun when you have both of those things going at the same time."
