Bears pick up slugging first baseman who hit 10 home runs at Charlotte in 2026
WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball head coach Mitch Thompson has announced the addition of fifth-year senior first baseman and outfielder Todd Hudson to the Bears 2027 roster.

Hudson, a career .306 hitter, spent the 2026 season at Charlotte where he hit 10 home runs and drove in 43 runs while appearing in 53 games with 50 starts. He joins the BU squad after stops at Liberty and Miami [FL] before playing for the 49ers last season.

Hudson's addition moves Baylor's roster to a total of 38 players for the upcoming season. The squad includes 20 newcomers, of which eight are freshmen, seven are transfer portal additions and five are from the junior college ranks.

Fifth-year senior transfer with a career .306 batting average, 24 career home runs and 103 RBIs … Spent the 2026 season at Charlotte where he played in 53 games and made 50 starts … Hit .337 with 10 home runs and 43 RBIs … Slugged .514 with five doubles and a triple in addition to his 10 homers … Racked up 70 hits, scored 44 runs and stole five bases … Played two seasons at Liberty before transferring to Miami [FL] in 2025 … Batted .259 with a home run and eight RBIs in 21 games with the Hurricanes … Was a two-way player at Liberty in 2023 and 2024 … Logged 61.1 innings over 30 appearances with 45 strikeouts in two years with the Flames … Batted .289 across two seasons at Liberty with 13 home runs, including a standout 11-HR campaign in 2024 … Was named a CSC Academic All-District honoree as a sophomore in 2024 … Attended River Bluff High School in Lexington, S.C. … Named to the SCBA All-State Team in 2022 … Was the top-ranked outfielder and No. 3 overall prospect in South Carolina by Perfect Game in 2022 … A two-time PG Preseason All-American and All-Region selection … Named the Gator of the Year as a senior at RBHS, given to the top male athlete from the school … Son of Rachel and Berry Hudson … Graduated from Charlotte with a degree in interdisciplinary studies … Intends to pursue a graduate degree in learning design and technology at Baylor.
