ARLINGTON, Texas - Gregg Glime's sacrifice fly brought in pinch runner Cal Towey with the go-ahead run, and Brooks Pinckard worked a scoreless 10th inning to notch his ninth save of the season as Baylor knocked off UTA, 5-4, in 10 innings on Tuesday night at Clay Gould Ballpark.

It was the second consecutive game that Glime has driven in the game-winning run. The senior captain also had a two-run triple to give the Bears a 4-3 lead earlier in the game.

"When the wind is blowing in, this park plays big, and for Gregg (Glime) to get a triple is really something," Head coach Steve Smith said. "It came at a good time. It gave us the lead at the time, and then he got the sacrifice fly that scored the winning run. You had to feel good with him at the plate, the infield in and just needed a guy to put the ball in play."

It was the fourth time this season that Baylor (20-11) overcame a deficit of three or more runs, as the Bears won their 11th consecutive non-conference game. With the loss, UT Arlington fell to 15-18 on the season.

Baylor starting pitcher Josh Turley held the Mavericks scoreless through the first two innings, but UTA plated three runs off of four hits in the third inning, chasing the freshman lefty from the game.

Jesse Payne had a RBI double, and Chad Comer did the rest of the damage with a two-run single. Craig Fritsch came on in relief and got an inning-ending double play grounder, but UTA had already jumped out to a 3-0 lead.

The Bears got a run back in the fourth when Joey Hainsfurther reached on a bunt single and Josh Ludy brought him around to score with a two-out single.

Fritsch faced the minimum, struck out five and allowed just one hit over the next three innings, and Baylor put up three runs in the sixth to take the lead.

Max Muncy led off the inning with his ninth homer of the season, tying him with Matt Williams' 1998 total for the Baylor freshman record. Ludy followed with his third single of the night, and that was enough to end UTA starter Mark Picca's night.

Chris Slater reached as the potential go-ahead run with a single, and Glime delivered a two-run triple to the gap in left-center, giving the Bears their first lead of the night at 4-3.

Fritsch finally hit a bump in the road in the seventh when a pair of errors led to an unearned run that allowed UTA to tie the game at 4-4. After a passed ball and a wild pitch put the potential go-ahead run on third base, Fritsch rebounded to strike out Bryant Lopez to keep the score tied heading to the eighth.

Kolt Browder (4-1) came on in relief and held the Mavericks hitless with three strikeouts over the next two innings, sending the game to extras.

Dan Evatt led off the 10th with a double down the right-field line, and he was replaced by pinch runner Cal Towey. Chris Slater followed with a sacrifice bunt, and Glime delivered the game-winning sacrifice fly.

Glime was almost retired on the previous pitch, as his foul tip was initially ruled to have been caught by the catcher, but the first base umpire stepped in to say the ball bounced in the dirt, keeping his at-bat alive.

Pinckard moved from center field to the mound for the 10th. He allowed a leadoff single, and the Mavericks pushed the tying run into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt, but after a groundout and an intentional walk, Pinckard got Comer to ground into a fielder's choice to end the game.

By recording the final three outs, Pinckard notched his ninth save, which moved him past Nick Cassavechia and Zane Carlson into sole possession of the Baylor sophomore saves record. He has converted all nine save opportunities on the season.

Fritsch held the Mavericks to just an unearned run on one hit in 4.1 innings, but Browder got the win after keeping UTA scoreless in 2.0 hitless innings. Brian Watson (1-1) was saddled with a tough loss after allowing one run on two hits in 4.2 innings of relief for UTA.

Slater finished 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Ludy went 3-for-3 with one RBI and Glime collected three RBI. Cody Dyvig was the only UTA player with a multi-hit game; he went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

The Bears and UT Arlington meet for a rematch at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Baylor Ballpark. Ross Speed is expected to start on the mound for Baylor, but the Mavericks have not yet announced a starter.
