Baylor Athletics Experience
• Softball Media Almanac

WACO, Texas - Junior Dani Leal scored from third on a wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the 10th to lead the No. 24 Baylor softball team (20-10, 1-2) to a 3-2 win over No. 18 Texas A&M (29-8, 2-1) Wednesday night at Getterman Stadium.

"I am so proud of this team and how hard we fought tonight," head coach Glenn Moore said. "Courtney Repka was awesome and it was only a matter of time before finally cracked through and won."

Courtney Repka (13-6) threw her best game of the season, recording a career high 11 strikeouts, allowing three hits two earned runs and walking just three in 10.0 innings of work.

Baylor outhit Texas A&M 11-3, but stranded 14 runners, 12 of which were in scoring position. The Lady Bears had at least one player reach base in every inning.

Courtney Nieten, who went 2-for-5, drove in the Lady Bears' two RBI on a double in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at two. Nicole Wesley and Kayce Walker each registered three hits for BU.

Tied at two and in the international tiebreak in the bottom of the 10th, Leal was placed on second and advanced to third on a groundout to the pitcher by Kathy Shelton. Following a fly out to left by KJ €ˆFreeland, Rebecca Arbino's 1-0 pitch hit the dirt, went between the legs of catcher Megan May and rolled to the backstop, allowing Leal to score standing up for the 3-2 win.

Texas A&M jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third, as May belted her 16th home run of the year over the right center wall with two outs for the Aggies' first hit of the game.

Baylor, who had runners in scoring position in every inning except the second, kept the pressure on Texas A&M, but could not crack the scoreboard. A&M starter Melissa Dumezich finally got chased in the sixth following a walk to Walker that put runners on first and second with one out. Arbino came in to replace her and walked Shelton to load the bases, but a force out at home and a line out to left field ended the BU threat.

The Lady Bears were finally able to tie the game in the seventh, as Nicole Wesley led off the inning with a single to short and advanced to second on a walk by Jordan Vannatta. Nieten then delivered a double to left center field, scoring a pair of runs and tying the game at two.

The Lady Bears got Walker to third with two out in the ninth, as she stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher, but a groundout by Leal ended the threat.

Baylor will remain home to take on Texas Tech on Saturday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Getterman Stadium. Following the game, kids will be able to participate in an Easter Egg hunt on the field.
