The Baylor softball team (16-7) dropped a nine-inning heartbreaker on a squeeze bunt from Chandler Hall, allowing Texas State (9-11) to pull out the 4-3 win. The loss snapped a seven-game win streak for the Lady Bears.

"We lacked energy again tonight," head coach Glenn Moore said. "I am disappointed in our play overall, but give Texas State the credit they deserve because they wanted this one more."

Courtney Repka (9-4) picked up the loss, going 5.2 innings, allowing five hits, three runs, two earned, eight walks and two strikeouts. Alicia Vasquez was stellar in middle relief, throwing 2.2 innings, giving up one hit and striking out one, while being charged with one earned run.

Bree Hanafin went 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Nicole Wesley and Kathy Shelton each notched a pair of hits.

Texas State jumped ahead in the first after Repka walked three-straight batters allowing a grounder to short from Baack to score a run for a 1-0 lead.

Baylor got back-to-back two-out singles from Nicole Wesley and Bree Hanafin, and after a double steal, reached third and second. A fly ball, however, ended the threat, stranding the pair of runners.

The Bobcats loaded the bases again in the second, but Repka got two-straight strikeouts to get out of the jam.

The Lady Bears got the game tied in the sixth, as Kathy Shelton led off the inning with a single. After stealing second, a wild pitch bounced high up the screen and allowed Shelton to score from second to tie the game.

Alicia Vasquez entered the game for Repka in the fourth and was perfect until giving up a double to what would be her final batter with two outs in the sixth. Repka reentered and pinch hitter Allison Snow ripped an RBI-single up the middle to take the lead back.

The Lady Bears answered back in the seventh when Nicole Wesley led off the inning with a double down the left field line. With one out, Megan Turk laid down a bunt for a single, allowing Tiffany Wesley to single through the right side, scoring her sister to tie the game.

Baylor took its first lead of the game in the ninth, as Dani Leal was placed on second and N. Wesley sacrifice bunted her to third. Bree Hanafin then laid down a squeeze bunt that allowed Leal to score from third for a 3-2 lead.

The Bobcats tied the game with one swing of the bat, as Kristina Tello knocked an RBI-double to left and advanced to third on the throw home. With one out, Chandler Hall laid down her own squeeze bunt, scoring Tello from third to win the game.

Baylor outhit Texas State, 9-6, making it the first time all year the Lady Bears have lost when recording more hits.

Baylor will wrap up its eight-game road swing on Tuesday with a doubleheader at UT Arlington beginning at 4:00 p.m.
