Softball Picked Third In Big 12

IRVING, Texas -

The Baylor softball team was picked to finish third in a pre-season vote conducted by league coaches, the Big 12 Conference office announced Friday. The Lady Bears were picked to finish sixth last season and ended up in third place.

The Sooners (79 points) received seven of 10 first-place votes and Missouri (75) grabbed three. Nebraska (49) edged out Texas (48) for fourth place, followed by Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Kansas and Texas Tech.

Baylor returns 11 letterwinners and seven starters off of last season's Super Regional team, including Big 12 Pitcher and Freshman of the Year, Whitney Canion. The Lady Bears will begin the 2010 season on the road at the Marriott Houston Hobby Classic on Feb. 12-14. To purchase season tickets for Baylor's 2010 home schedule, call 245-710-1000.
