Final Stats
The Baylor softball team (23-22) used a pair of home runs by Brette Reagan to extend the game in extra innings, but two home runs by the Cyclones (29-28) in the top of the 10th doomed the Lady Bears, who fell 6-4.
Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Reagan unleashed a bomb to left center to bring the score to 3-1. She came up to the plate again in the seventh and sent a two out pitch over the center field wall to tie the game at three and send it to extra innings.
The Cyclones jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, as a two RBI single was part of a two run, four hit inning for ISU.
Iowa State added another run in the third, as Kirsten Shortridge allowed a bases loaded walk to score with two outs. Shaina Brock entered the game and got a strikeout to end the inning.
The Lady Bears had an opportunity to cut the lead in the fifth, as Alex Colyer led off the inning with a bunt single. After back-to back fielder's choice plays, Meagan Weldon got hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. Shortridge grounded into a fielder's choice of her own, as Tiffany Wesley was thrown out at home, and Nicole Wesley grounded out to second for the final out of the innings, stranding three runners.
Reagan's homer in the sixth cut the lead to two, and in the seventh, her two out, two-run blast tied the game at three after Meagan Weldon reached on an error by the third baseman.
Baylor had a chance to win it in the eighth, as the Lady Bears loaded the bases with one out. Weldon flied out to center, but could not score Colyer from third, and Shortridge grounded out to end the inning.
Brock kept the Cyclone scoreless until the ninth, when a sac fly put Iowa State ahead by one.
Baylor answered one more time, as Courtney Oberg delivered an RBI single to left, but stranded runners at second and third.
Iowa State put the game away in the tenth with back-to-back home runs by Sydni Jones and Courtney Wray, making the score 6-4.
Baylor went in order in the 10th, ending the game.
The Lady Bears stranded 12 runners in the game, while Iowa State left eight runners on base.
