The No. 15 Baylor softball team (17-7 overall, 0-1 Big 12) will take on Iowa State (19-10 overall, 0-0 Big 12) in its conference home opener on March 21 at 6:30 p.m. and March 22 at 12:00 p.m. at Getterman Stadium in Waco.
The Lady Bears are coming off a 7-0 loss at No. 9 Texas A&M on Wednesday, and have lost two-straight for the first time since losing a doubleheader at Oklahoma on April 18, 2007.
Iowa State enters the weekend on a three game losing streak, and losers of six of its last seven. This will mark the opening of conference play for the Cyclones.
Baylor leads the all-time series12-8, including a 6-3 mark in Waco. The Lady Bears have won five straight over ISU, with their last loss coming on April 30, 2005 in Ames.

Recapping A&M
The Baylor Lady Bears (17-7 overall, 0-1 Big 12) dropped its Big 12 opener, 7-0 against Texas A&M (29-6 overall, 1-0 Big 12) on Wednesday at the Aggie Softball Complex in College Station.
Texas A&M busted the game open in the first as Brittany Turner walked the first three batters to load the bases. Kirsten Shortridge came in to pitch and gave up back-to-back singles to make the score 3-0. The Aggies then scored its fourth run on a sac fly to center before a single brought in the fifth and final run of the inning.
The Lady Bears' best chance came in the second when Courtney Oberg led off with a single and a pair of sacrifice bunts moved her to third, but a groundout to second ended the threat.
The Aggies added another run in the fourth as Natalie Villarreal led off with a triple and was brought in to score on the next batter, who singled, to take a 6-0 lead.
Texas A&M scored its seventh run in the fifth as Alex Reynolds recorded her third hit, a double, to plate Glasco, who led off the inning with a double.
Turner (3-4) was credited with the loss after pitching to just three batters, giving up three walks and three earned runs. Shortridge pitched 3.2 innings, giving up five hits, three runs, one walk and two strikeouts. Isham pitched 2.1 innings giving up two hits, one earned run and walking one.

The Cyclones are led by a pair of players batting .400 in Courtney Wray and Ariel Coburn. Wray has one home run and 16 RBI to go with seven doubles and three triples, while Coburn has it six balls out of the yard with 20 RBI.
In the circle, Rachel Zabriskie is 9-3 with a 1.60 ERA in 74.1 innings pitched. The freshman from Austin, Texas has struck out 75 batters, while walking just 18.

Baylor's .337 team batting average leads the Big 12 by nearly .35 points, with Oklahoma State in second with a .304 average.
The Lady Bears have five of the top 20 individual batting averages in the Big 12, including the top four spots. Jordan Daniels (.433), Kirsten Shortridge (.427), KJ Freeland (.412) and Brette Reagan (.408) take up the top four spots, whileNicole Wesley (.365) is 13th.
No other conference foe has as many players in the top 20, as Iowa State and Oklahoma each have three.
colyer friends... she's heating up
Junior Alex Colyer began the season 1-for-10 in the the Lady Bear's opening tournament, the Getterman Classic. Since then, Colyer is 19-for-50 (.380) with six doubles and a homer.
Reagan Rips on Roadtrip
Junior Brette Reagan found the softball parks very friendly on the team's recent roadtrip to San Antonio and Florida. She hit .522 (15-for-27) with two home runs and eight RBI to help lead Baylor to a 5-3 mark.
freeland adjusting well
Freshman KJ Freeland needs no more time to adjust to collegiate pitching. The Tucson, Ariz., native is hitting .427 this season. She has 21 hits in 51 at-bats, with an on-base percentage of .434.
Stealing this much should be criminal
The 2008 Lady Bears are off to a hot start on the base paths, stealing 60 bases in their first 24 games. That mark is second in the conference behind Missouri, who has played 11 more games. Last season Baylor had 62 stolen bases through 24 games.
The Baylor team record for most stolen bases in a season is 155, set by the 2005 team, which had 53 stolen bases in its first 24 games.
