Final Stats

ORLANDO, Fla. - The No. 14 Baylor Lady Bears (17-6 overall) split a pair of games, defeating Liberty, 8-0 in five innings, but falling to host UCF, 3-0 at the UCF Softball Complex on Wednesday.

Baylor struck first in the bottom of the first as Brette Reagan doubled down the left field line with two outs. Courtney Oberg followed with a base hit to left center, scoring Reagan, making the score 1-0.

The Lady Bears racked up four more in the third, as Oberg laced a double into left center, scoring KJ Freeland who singled and Reagan who reached on a fielder's choice. Alex Colyer singled to left to advance pinch runner Morgan Craig to third, and Nicole Wesley singled to bring Craig across the plate for a 4-0 lead. Meagan Weldon stepped in and singled to load the bases, and the fifth run of the game crossed on an error by the Liberty second baseman.

Baylor added another run in the fourth as Reagan singled to the second baseman and advanced to second on a groundout by Colby Vanham, which allowed Colyer to single to left field, scoring Reagan.

In the fifth, the Lady Bears plated their final two runs, as Taylor Marcum singled to left field and was replaced by Maritza Martinez at first. Martinez stole second, allowing Shortridge to bring her around on a single to center. Shortridge came in to score the eighth and final run as Reagan ripped her third hit for the 8-0 win.

Colyer ended the game going 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Reagan went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Oberg went 2-for-2 with three RBI.

Jenny Isham threw five innings, giving up just one hit, walking one and striking out four to move her record to 10-1 this season.

UCF got on board first in the night game, as a single with two on and one out made the score 1-0 after the first.

Baylor's best chance came in the second inning when the Lady Bears had runners on first and second with two outs, but a fly out to left by Tiffany Wesley ended the threat.

The Golden Knights added another run in the second, after the runner at second scored on a throwing error by Colyer for a 2-0 lead.

Another UCF runner crossed the plate in the fifth after a leadoff double and a single to score her from second.

Brittany Turner (3-3) took the loss despite throwing six innings, giving up seven hits, two earned runs, walking just one and striking out five.

Baylor will return home to host a doubleheader against Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday, March 18 beginning at 3 p.m. CT.
