SPRING, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team shot 310 during the third round of play, its highest score of the season, and finished at sixth place overall at the All-American Intercollegiate at the Tradition Course at Cypresswood Country Club on Tuesday.
The Bears, whose previous high score of 306 came in the first and third rounds of the Oklahoma Intercollegiate last fall, shot over 300 for the first time in eighth rounds. Middle Tennessee State carded 297, the only sub-300 score of the day, to move into first place and claim the team title.
"Today we played in some really tough conditions," said head coach Greg Priest. "On days like today you have to be able to handle the conditions and we played really poorly."
Baylor claims its seventh straight top 10 finish as a team, and has finished sixth or higher in five of seven tournaments.
Colton Williams was the top finisher for Baylor at 7-over par after a 73 in the final round. Williams, who was the leader after two rounds last week at the Rice Intercollegiate, finished in a tie for 10th place overall.
Bill Allcorn tied for 17th overall after shooting a 75 on Tuesday to finish at 9-over par for the tournament. Jeff Gerlich, Baylor's leader after 36 holes, shot 82 in the third round to finish in a tie for 29th place at 13-over par.

"This is almost like a bad football game where you don't want to look at the film," said Priest. "We have to get better. We need to be better off the tee and better on the green. We need to eliminate three-putts and putting up high scores."
Baylor returns to action in two weeks, as the Bears travel to Laredo for the Border Olympics on March 14-15.
