Softball Staff Named NFCA Regional Staff of the Year

WACO, Texas --- For the first time in school history, the Baylor coaching staff was recognized as a regional coaching staff of the year as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association named the Lady Bears staff 2007 NFCA Division I Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year the organization announced.

The Baylor coaching staff (comprised of head coach Glenn Moore, associate head coach Mark Lumley, assistant coach Britni Newman, assistant coach Jimmy Hubble and speed and conditioning coach Brandon Marcello) were selected for the honor after leading the Lady Bears to the Women's College World Series and the Big 12 Conference regular season title for the first time in school history.

Baylor finished the season with a record of 51-16, tying the 2005 squad for the most wins in school history as the Lady Bears claimed the Big 12 Conference title with a 14-3 league mark.

A number of players received individual honors under the tutelage of this year's staff, including Ashley Monceaux, who was named to the WCWS all-tournament team as well as one of 25 finalists for the USA Softball National Player of the Year award.

In all, six players earned all-Big 12 Conference honors while three earned NFCA All-Region recognition. Brette Reagan, along with Monceaux, picked up NFCA All-America honors this past season.

The Arizona coaching staff, which led the Wildcats to the 2007 national title, was named NFCA Division I National Coaching Staff of the Year.
