Box Score

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - The No. 10 Baylor softball team was unable to key hit as the Lady Bears left a total of 22 runners on base in a pair of losses at the Hawai'i Invitational, falling to Nevada, 3-2, before dropping the second game of the day to Liberty, 4-0, in action on Friday. With the losses, Baylor falls to 25-8 on the season.

After Nevada scored a pair of runs in the top of the first in game one to take a 2-0 lead, Baylor cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning when Brette Reagan singled to score Nicole Wesley to make the score 2-1.

It would be slow going the rest of the way; however, as the Lady Bears would manage only one more run the rest of the day.

After Nevada added an insurance run in the fifth, Baylor looked to mount a seventh-inning rally. With runners at second and third and only one out, Chelsi Lake hit a sacrifice fly to left to cut the lead to one; however, Nevada relief pitcher Jordan McPherson managed to record the final out and give the Wolfpack the victory.

Kirsten Shortridge took the loss for Baylor and fell to 8-2 on the season after allowing three runs on six hits in seven innings of work.

Katie Holverson picked up the win for Nevada an improved to 2-8 on the season after allowing two runs on six hits in six innings of work.

The Baylor struggles would continue in game two as the Lady Bears left 12 runners on in a 4-0 loss to Liberty.

Liberty got all the offense it would need from the bat of J. Moore as the center fielder delivered a two-run home run in the first and a two-run single in the fifth for the only scoring of the game.

The Baylor offense was unable to answer as T. Lowe picked up the victory for Liberty after allowing only seven hits and no runs in 6.2 innings of work. With the bases loaded, S. Ellis came into the game and to get the final out of the game and record the save.

Brittany Turner took the loss for Baylor after allowing three runs on three hits in four innings of work.

The losses marked the first time this season the Lady Bears had dropped back-to-back contests.

Baylor will return to action on Saturday, March 17, as the Lady Bears open bracket play at the Hawai'i Invitational as the No. 4 seed and will face the No. 1 seed, yet to be determined, at 5:00 p.m.
