WACO, Texas - Former Baylor head golf coach and player Tim Hobby (1990) and former player Jeff Jumonville (1994) were chosen to compete in the first-ever Trump Million Dollar Invitational at the Trump International Golf Club at Raffles Resort Canouan Island, The Grenadines, May 21-26.
The Trump Million Dollar Invitational was a three-day, 54-hole stroke play competition without the benefit of handicap. The players with the ten lowest scores advanced to the Grand Prize Matches on May 26. Hobby tied for 22nd, five strokes out of the top 10, while Jumonville finished 90th.
The ten Grand Prize Match finalists competed in a nine-hole playoff where one player was eliminated on each hole until only two players remained, who then played the final hole for the $1 Million Grand Prize. Ties on each hole were be broken by participation in a skills competition by all players who are tied for the highest score on each hole until one player was eliminated. Skills were be putting, chipping, sand shots and driving accuracy and were chosen at the discretion of the tournament director and fully disclosed prior to the commencement of the Grand Prize Matches.
Participation was open to all professional or amateur golfers 18 years of age or older who are not currently members of the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, Champions Tour, Nationwide Tour or European Tour. The Trump Million Dollar Invitational will be televised by ESPN on July 2 from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. and July 12 from 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
