DALLAS, Texas - Baylor softball senior outfielder Kelly Osburn was named Big 12 Conference Player of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday. The selection is Osburn's second of her career and marked the second consecutive week a Baylor player has been chosen for the award after Chelsi Lake earned the honor last week.
Osburn compiled a .563 batting average along with three home runs, while driving in a team-high seven runs as she led Baylor to a 3-2 record this past week, including a pair of wins over nationally-ranked opponents. The Missouri City, Texas, native went 9-for-16 on the week and scored six runs as she posted 19 total bases and recorded a 1.188 slugging percentage. Osburn led the team with a .632 on-base percentage and was 2-for-2 in stolen bases.
Against No. 19 Oklahoma, Osburn went 2-for-4 with two homers and four RBI as she tied a Baylor single-game record for most home runs in a game.
The senior recorded at least one run and hit in every contest this week; and, with a walk against No. 15 Nebraska, became only the second player in Big 12 history (Jennifer Lizama, Nebraska: 1997-2000) to record at least 200 hits, 150 runs scored, 30 home runs, 100 RBI, 75 stolen bases and 100 walks for a career.
Texas pitcher Cat Osterman was named Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Osburn and the Lady Bears return to action on Wednesday, April 19, when the Lady Bears travel to College Station, Texas, to face Texas A&M at 6:30 p.m.
