WACO, Texas - Baylor alum and current PGA Tour professional Jimmy Walker was named to the six-man Big 12 Conference 10th Anniversary Men's Golf Team, the league office announced Thursday.
Also named to the team were Oklahoma State's Charles Howell, Edward Loar and Hunter Mahan and Texas' David Gossett and Jason Hartwick.
Walker played at Baylor from 1998-2001 and was the first player in league history to earn All-Big 12 Conference honors all four seasons, a feat which has since been accomplished by only one other player (Hartwick, 2001-04).
The New Braunfels, Texas, native currently holds the Baylor career records for most top-10 finishes (26) and most top-five finishes (19). He also has three of the nine lowest 54-hole totals in program history.
Walker turned pro in 2001 and at age 25 became the second-youngest player in history to earn Nationwide Tour Player of the Year honors in 2004. He has played in seven PGA Tour events this year with a season-best showing at the Honda Classic, where he tied for 31st. He ranks ninth on the tour in driving distance and 17th in final-round scoring average.
