WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team has cracked the top 25, standing 22nd in both the Golfweek and Golfstat rankings released Tuesday. Additionally, senior Ryan Baca (Richmond, Texas) is 38th and junior Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) is 103rd in the individual rankings.
The ranking is the Bears' third-highest in program history, behind the 2001-02 squad that ranked as high as 15th and the 1999-2000 team that ranked 21st according to Golfstat.
The Bears have finished in the top four in all four of their fall events, including a victory at the Baylor Invitational and a second-place finish at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate hosted by Vanderbilt. Consistency has been the key, as Baylor ranks third nationally in pars per round and seventh in avoiding scores of triple bogey or worse.
Baca has three top-10 finishes this season, including a fourth-place showing at the Baylor Invitational and tying for second after losing in a playoff at the University of Hawai'i Fall Invitational. He leads the team with a 71.50 scoring average for the fall.
Alcorn collected his fourth career victory at the Baylor Invitational and tied for third to lead Baylor at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate. He ranks second behind Baca with a 72.42 scoring average so far this season.
