NCAA Regional Bracket 
Waco, Texas - The No. 19 Baylor softball team earned its first-ever berth into the NCAA Softball Championships with the announcement of the 64-team field by the NCAA Division I Softball Committee today. Baylor earned the third seed in the Waco Regional and will face sixth-seeded North Carolina, out of the Atlantic Coast Conference, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 20.
Baylor enters the tournament following one of the best regular seasons in program history. The Lady Bears currently stand at 46-15 on the season, the best record in school history, and advanced to the Big 12 Conference Tournament semi-finals for the first time ever.
North Carolina enters with a record of 43-20 on the season after finishing second in the ACC. The Tar Heels are making their second consecutive appearance in the tournament, after going 1-2 during the 2003 tournament. The Tar Heels are coached by Donna Papa, who is in her 19th season as the Tar Heels head coach.
Other teams selected for the Waco regional, with record in parenthesis, are top-seeded LSU (50-10), second-seeded Illinois (41-19-1), fourth-seed Seton Hall (44-17), fifth-seeded Houston (38-22), seventh-seeded Texas-San Antonio (37-15) and eighth-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (39-19).
The regional winners advance to the Women's College World Series (WCWS), an eight-team, double-elimination tournament to be conducted May 27-31 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
