The Baylor men's golf holds a six-stroke lead after the first two rounds of the Hyatt/Puerto Rico Intercollegiate Tuesday at the 6,980-yard, par-72 Dorado Beach Golf Club in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The team finished with a two-round total of 582, resulting in their lowest 36-hole total of the year.
Baylor was led by junior Ryan Baca and senior Jon Antunes, who are both tied for sixth. Baca followed up an opening-round 73 with a one-under par 71 in the second round, while Antunes fired a two-under 70 in the second round after an opening-round 74.
Sophomore Will McDonald, who is playing in the tournament as an individual is currently tied for 10th after rounds of 72 and 74. Freshman Jeremy Alcorn opened the tournament with a 78, but came out strong in the second round and fired a career-low 69 to be positioned in 11th place. Another freshman, Jeremy Frye, shot rounds of 73 and 82, while senior Will Doughtie fired rounds of 84 and 74 to conclude the first two rounds of play.
Baylor holds a six-stroke advantage over second-place Kentucky (588) and a 10-shot lead over third-place and Georgia State (592). Vanderbilt (594) and Southern Mississippi (599) round out the rest of the top-five teams.
The third and final round will begin Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.
