Bears and Bearcats battle on the Banks of the Brazos Sunday at 1 p.m.
WACO, Texas – Fresh off its first win of the week, a 2-1 decision over Oklahoma State, No. 11 Baylor soccer returns to Betty Lou Mays Field on Sunday for an afternoon matinee matchup against Cincinnati at 1 p.m. CT. The game's Beat the Heat promotion will feature a cooling towel giveaway while supplies last. Admission to the match, like all Baylor regular-season home matches, is free.
Through Thursday night's games, the Bears are tied for second in the Big 12 Conference standings with one win and one draw in league play with Texas Tech, Kansas and BYU, behind Colorado and Houston, which each have a pair of wins.
The unchanged RPI rankings still feature BU at No. 7, the highest mark in the Big 12, with Cincinnati clocking in at No. 160 as the third-to-last squad in the Big 12 Conference, ahead of Utah and Iowa State, two teams the Bears will not face this season.
Baylor has never defeated Cincinnati, standing 0-1-1 in a series that began when the Bearcats joined the Big 12 Conference in 2023. The teams played to a 2-2 draw in Waco that fall before Cincinnati eliminated the Bears 3-2 in the Big 12 Tournament a few weeks later.
The Bearcats are 2-3-4 in 2026, with wins over Eastern Kentucky and Northern Kentucky, but are still searching for their first conference win of the year after drawing Kansas 1-1 and dropping their most recent match, 2-0, to Texas Tech in Lubbock.
Tiana Campbell leads the Bearcats in goals with four off a team-high 21 shots, while Emma Gioffre has a pair of assists. Amber Brandon has played every minute in goal, posting a 0.89 GAA with 22 saves.
Aryanna Jimison, Lauren Omholt and Grace White share the team lead in goals after Thursday, each scoring four, and Jimison and White have combined for all four of Baylor's game-winners. Theresa McCullough leads the team with her fifth assist of the season, added Thursday night, while starting in five of the Bears' 10 matches.
Azul Alvarez has played all 900 minutes in goal with 32 saves and a 1.00 GAA.
Sunday's match is the second of three-straight at home, a homestand that closes out next Friday against Kansas at 7 p.m. CT.
