Armstrong garners national recognition from Baseball America, NCBWA, Perfect Game after five-homer week
WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball redshirt senior first baseman Tyce Armstrong has picked up a trio of national awards after his outstanding five-homer week, as announced by the various publications on Tuesday.
Armstrong was named to Baseball America's National Team of the Week as the first baseman, was tabbed Perfect Game's National Player of the Week, and shared the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Hitter of the Week honors.
This is Armstrong's third appearance on the Baseball America National Team of the Week this season, as he joins Arizona State outfielder Landon Hairston (4), Florida Gulf Coast two-way player Evan Dempsey (4), Cincinnati first baseman Quinton Coats (3) and Georgia catcher Daniel Jackson (3) as the fifth player to do so this year.
Additionally, this is Armstrong's second honor of the year from both Perfect Game and the NCBWA, as both outlets recognized him in Week 1 after his Opening Day performance, when he hit three grand slams and became just the second player in college baseball history to do so in a single game.
Following his historic week at the plate for the Bears where he tied the program's single-season home run record with his 21st blast as part of a five-homer week, Armstrong continues to add to his trophy case with three more national recognitions. He batted a whopping .563 (9-for-16) this week with all nine of his hits going for extra bases (four doubles, five home runs). He also drove in nine runs and scored five of his own, logging his 13th, 14th and 15th multi-hit games and 11th, 12th and 13th multi-RBI games of the season this week in leading BU to a 3-1 record against UT Arlington and Texas Tech.
Dating back to last Sunday at Arizona State, Armstrong has hit seven blasts in his last five games and has now homered in five-consecutive games, becoming the first player in Baylor's recorded history to do so. His 21 home runs on the year are now tied for the most in program history, with still seven regular-season games to go, matching Charley Carter's previous record which had stood for 28 years with 21 long balls in the 1998 campaign.
Armstrong ranks fourth in the Big 12 and seventh nationally with 21 home runs, as one of just 12 players in the country with over 20 homers this year. He also ranks sixth in the conference and 27th nationally with 57 RBIs.
Armstrong and the Bears are back in action on Tuesday night at Texas State, their final midweek ballgame of the season, before rounding out the year with a home series against UCF and road trip to Utah to complete the 2026 slate.
