BU heads to Bricktown on the Heels of a win over the Red Raiders this weekend
WACO, Texas – Baylor softball is set to open play at the 2026 Big 12 Softball Tournament presented by Allstate on Thursday afternoon, facing No. 2 Texas Tech at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.
The Bears enter the single-elimination tournament looking to build on some recent momentum, including a thrilling 8-7 comeback win over the Red Raiders last Friday on the South Plains. Down 6-1 at one point, Baylor erased the deficit with some clutch hitting against one of the best pitching staffs in the nation.
Baylor and Texas Tech met in the Big 12 tourney last season, with the Red Raiders earning a 4-0 win in Oklahoma City. The Bears, however, hold a 67-28 advantage in the most-played matchup in program history.
The 2026 Big 12 Championship features a single-elimination format, with the top eight teams in the conference advancing to compete for the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Live coverage of the tournament will be available on ESPN+ on Thursday and Friday, with Cat Osterman, Emma Tiedemann and Nicole Mendes on the call. Saturday's championship game will air on ESPN at 11 a.m. CT, featuring Eric Frede, Madison Shipman and Danielle Lawrie.
