
BSB Secures No. 8 Seed, First-Round Bye for Big 12 Tournament

Bears open up Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. CT against winner of BYU and Texas Tech
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Following its series win over Utah, Baylor baseball has secured the No. 8 seed to the upcoming 2026 Big 12 Baseball Tournament presented by Allstate and will open up play on Wednesday, May 20, after a first-round bye.
BU (28-26, 14-16 Big 12) will face the winner of No. 9-seed BYU (27-27, 14-16 Big 12) and No. 12-seed Texas Tech (27-27, 10-20 Big 12) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. CT at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Ariz. If the Bears win, they will advance to the quarterfinals on Thursday to face top-seeded Kansas (39-16, 22-8 Big 12) at 2:30 p.m. CT.
With two wins, Baylor would advance to Friday's semifinals and play the winner of No. 4-seed UCF (31-20, 19-11 Big 12) and No. 5-seed Oklahoma State (36-19, 18-12 Big 12) at 6:30 p.m. CT. The Big 12 Championship game is set for Saturday, May 23, at 6:30 p.m. CT.
The Bears are looking for their first win at the Big 12 Tournament since 2019, as BU owns a 37-44 record all-time at the event. Wednesday and Friday's games will be streamed on ESPN+, while games on Thursday will be televised on ESPNU and the championship game on Saturday will be broadcast on ESPN2.
The 2026 Big 12 Tournament features a 12-team, single elimination bracket in which the top six seeds received a double bye to Thursday's quarterfinals. Seeds seven and eight begin play on Wednesday against winners of the Tuesday's play-in games between the nine through 12 seeds.
