Bears face the Skyhawks on Friday and the Bulldogs on Saturday
WACO, Texas – No. 10 Baylor equestrian is set to wrap up the regular season against UT Martin on Friday and at No. 8 Fresno State on Saturday.
Friday's meet against the Skyhawks is set to begin at 11 a.m. CT, while Saturday's contest against the Bulldogs will start at 12 p.m. CT. Both will be held at the Student Horse Center in Fresno, Calif. The Bears (2-7, 2-3 Big 12) face the Skyhawks (4-6, 4-3 ECAC) and Bulldogs (5-4, 2-3 Big 12) in BU's final meets of the regular season.
Baylor leads the all-time series record against UT Martin, 9-1, dropping its first contest to UTM the last time the two squads met in November 2023, 7-7 (1,159-1,106). The Bears also lead the all-time series against the Bulldogs, 20-9, toppling Fresno State at home during the fall slate 12-5 on Halloween to earn their first win of the season.
In the contest against the Bulldogs, senior Lauren Reid earned the MOP nod in Fences, while fifth-year senior Lauren Stebbins earned her first career MOP honor in Flat and senior Kalena Reynolds collected the award in Reining.
Last time out, BU beat No. 7 TCU in an upset win to conclude the home season, defeating the Horned Frogs for the second year in a row on Senior Day.
In Flat, the green and gold earned a 3-2 event win led by senior Lauren Jorgensen, who earned the MOP nod with an event-high score of 86. Jorgensen continued her momentum, collecting a MOP in Fences, besting her opponent 83.5-80.5. In Reining, Sadie Peters and Britt McIlnay both earned career highs with a 72 and 72.5, respectively.
Finishing the meet in Horsemanship, the Bears dominated to win their first event win of the season. Junior Carley Rutledge rode for a career high 77.5 to earn her first career MOP honor and first career point.
