Robinson product Kaygen Marshall delivers in the clutch as Baylor comes from behind again

WACO, Texas – Baylor softball secured its third straight walk-off victory and second consecutive win over Wichita State, rallying for a 9-8 win on Saturday night at Getterman Stadium.
Leading for most of the game, Wichita State seized control of the game with six runs in the top of the sixth to go in front 8-6. Only to see the Bears string together a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh, continuing a stretch of dramatic finishes to improve to 3-1 on the season.

Rundown
Baylor fell behind 1-0 in the opening inning before responding with two runs of its own to take an early 2-1 lead as Amber Toven and Faith Piper plated a pair in the opening stanza.

A strong outing from Cambree Creager buoyed the Bears as she went five innings, scattering three hits and allowing just one run, while the offense added two more runs in the fourth to extend the advantage to 4-1.

Leading 6-2 going into the final frame, the Shockers mounted a rally in the top of the seventh to take an 8-6 lead, setting up another dramatic finish.

Baylor answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, as Marshall's two-RBI single tied it at eight, before, a WSU passed ball allowed Abi Flores to slide in safely and steal another win from Wichita State.

Head Coach Glenn Moore on his team's continued resilience — "You don't know what you don't know," he said with a smile. "They don't know that the game's going to eventually punish them for playing like this, where they won't come out on the winning side, but I'm not going to tell them right now because they believe they're going to score as many runs as they need to win it. We'll adjust to the things that we need to as we go through them, but while there is youth up there in these big situations, there's no fear in these kids. That's why we're able to come out on top in these three games."
Moore on the growth of Kaygen Marshall in a big spot on Saturday — "The pressure's been on her, you know? She's a local kid with high expectations. Some kids leave the state and go somewhere else where they don't have quite the pressure, but she's here in her hometown, where there's Enormous pressure. We've had several like that in the past. But for her to give us a couple of hits today, including that crucial one — I think she got the monkey off her back. Everybody knows what she's capable of. We'll see that many, many times, but you've got to get over the hump first. I think tonight will go a long ways in doing that."

Baylor will close out the Getterman Classic on Sunday against Northwestern State at 2 p.m. as former BU standout pitcher Jenny [Isham] Fuller leads her Demons into to Getterman Stadium, with Glenn Moore's son Ty as a graduate assistant.
