Velcz earns lone point as Bears battle on the road

FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 19 Baylor dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 5 TCU on Wednesday night at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center, as the Bears were unable to recover after dropping the doubles point.

TCU took early control by winning the top two doubles courts to secure the opening point. Baylor's best response came in singles play at the No. 2 position, where No. 106 Zsombor Velcz delivered the Bears' lone point with an upset in straight sets over No. 49 Rolland De Ravel to cut into the deficit.

The Horned Frogs responded with singles wins at Courts Four and Three, before No. 5 Duncan Chan clinched the match at the top spot with a three-set win over No. 17 Devin Badenhorst. Singles matches at the Courts Five and Six positions were left unfinished once the team score was decided.

Baylor will continue non-conference play at home on Monday as the Bears look to bounce back from the road loss against No. 8 Texas A&M.
