
SB Closes out the Campbell/Cartier Classic with a Pair of Wins on Saturday

BU is now 9-2 for the 12th time in the Glenn Moore Era
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Baylor softball picked up two wins Saturday at SDSU Softball Stadium, defeating Fordham, 6-1, before edging North Dakota, 2-0, to improve to 9-2 on the season .
The Bears combined timely offense with strong pitching performances to close the day undefeated.
RUNDOWN
Game One: Baylor 6, Fordham 1
The Bears got the scoring started early, putting a run on the board in the top of the first inning. Toven came across to score the lone run of the inning on Leah Cran's SAC fly to take the 1-0 lead.
Back in the batters box, BU scored three runs on four hits to expand the lead to 4-0.
Sa'Mya Jones' triple set the tone for the third inning as Gianna Gusman pushed across her sixth RBI of the season.
The Rams fought back, closing the gap to 5-1 until Baylor added some insurance in the sixth. Sophomore Gigi Lindsey crossed home plate with the lone run of the inning for the Bears, bringing the Baylor advantage to 6-1 where they would finish off to improve to 8-2.
Game Two: Baylor 2, North Dakota 0
Sophomore Sadie Ross and sophomore Peyton Tanner combined to toss a shutout on Saturday as the Baylor Bears blanked the North Dakota Fighting Hawks 2-0.
Ross started and picked up the win for Baylor (8-2), going six shutout innings while giving up seven hits, walking two, and striking out four. Tanner was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one for her first-career save.
Offensively, the Bears were paced by sophomore Karynton Dawson, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Senior Amber Toven put together a standout performance as well, going 1-for-3 with an RBI, finishing the weekend with eight hits and six RBIs.

• Baylor is nor 9-2 on the season, marking the 12th time a Glenn Moore team has started 9-2 or better
• The Bears are now 2-0 against Fordham and North Dakota
• BU has scored 66 runs through its first 11 games
• Baylor pitchers limited North Dakota to just 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position
• BU pitchers faced 29 North Dakota hitters in the game, allowing 10 ground balls and five fly balls while striking out five.
• Baylor pitchers limited Fordham to just 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position
• Kaci West recorded her first RBI in nearly two years in game one, knocking in a run against Louisiana in the Louisiana Regional on May 18, 2024.
• Charleigh Esparza threw out her first runner of her career in the top of the first against Fordham.
• All three Baylor catchers have now thrown out a runner in the first week of the season
• Peyton Tanner finished the weekend 1-1 with her career-first save
• Cambree Creager has now picked up wins in each of her last two appearances
• Creager tied a career high with six strikeouts against Fordham
• Brooklyn Carter finished the weekend with eight hits and three stolen bases
WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor will head to the East Coast for the Clemson Classic, beginning Friday against Lipscomb at 9 a.m. CT. The Bears will play four games over the weekend, including at least one against Clemson on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. CT. Games against Clemson will be available on ACC Digital Network, while all games in 2026 will be broadcast on COOL 101.3.
