
MT Continues Fall Slate at ITA Texas Regionals

Seven Bears compete in singles, with four duos in doubles action Oct. 8-12
FORT WORTH, Texas – Baylor men's tennis travels to Fort Worth, Texas this week to compete in the ITA Texas Regionals, with Bears in singles and doubles competition from Oct. 8-12 hosted by TCU.
The preseason fifth-ranked senior Devin Badenhorst and No. 84 FSU transfer Erik Schiessl both enter the main draw singles. Joining two of the Bears' preseason ranked singles competitors in the main draw singles are sophomore Calvin Bairel, senior Louis Bowden, freshman Radek Chodora, freshman Gordon Gallagher and sophomore Drew Hedgecoe.
In doubles, the No. 14 pairing of Van Schalkwyk and Schiessl, the No. 78 duo of Badenhorst and Baierl, the pair of Bowden and Chodora and the duo of Gallagher and Hedgecoe all enter into the main draw.
The event features a 64-player qualifying bracket and a 64-player main draw. Doubles runs through 64-team fields at each stage.
The two top singles players and the top doubles duo will punch tickets to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship, set for Nov. 17-22 in Athens, Ga.
Play begins Thursday with qualifying singles and main draw doubles and runs through singles and doubles finals on Monday, Oct. 12. Freshman Gordon Gallagher and sophomore Drew Hedgecoe will lead off for the Bears on Thursday at noon in the Round of 32. Matches will live stream through playsight.
