MT Adds Tripp Tuff as Assistant Coach on Staff

Tuff joins the Bears after stint at Northwestern
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis has added Tripp Tuff to its coaching staff as an assistant coach, head coach Michael Woodson announced.
"We're incredibly excited to welcome Tripp Tiff to our Baylor Tennis family," Woodson said. "Tripp has a calm, cool and collected presence about him, but there is also a contagious confidence that you feel the moment you're around him. He has earned a tremendous reputation for the way he carries himself, the way he connects with people and the belief he brings to those around him.
Tuff joins the Bears after spending the 2025-26 season as an assistant with Northwestern's women's tennis program, helping the Wildcats to a 14-12 overall record and a berth in the Big Ten Tournament alongside the long-time head coach Claire Pollard.
Prior to his time in Evanston, Tuff took over two seasons as head coach at Hofstra, assisting both the men's and women's programs. In three seasons with the Pride, he helped multiple players to All-CAA honors. Additionally, he guided the women's team to a program-best nine-seed at the CAA Conference Tournament in his first year at the helm.
"What stood out to us throughout this process was the way Tripp approaches the game and the people in it. He has a great feel for relationships, a genuine passion for helping others and a confidence that I believe will make a tremendous impact on our student-athletes and our program. He is someone who understands that building a championship culture is about far more than tennis — it's about developing people, creating belief and bringing the right energy every day."
A former Big East champion at DePaul, Tuff captained the Blue Demons during back-to-back conference championship seasons in 2021 and 2022. He was also a two-time selection to both the Big East All-Academic Team and the ITA All-Academic Team.
Tuff graduated cum laude from DePaul in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in neuroscience and a minor in peace, justice and conflict studies. He earned a master's degree in public health in 2022. He is a native of Watermill, N.Y.
"I truly believe Tripp has a very bright future in this profession, and we're excited to be a part of that journey. We're fortunate to have him joining our staff, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the impact he makes on our program, our student-athletes and the Baylor community."
Tuff joins Jordan Gobatie on staff as assistant coach, who also joined the Bears over the summer from Arizona.
