Bears match a season-high with 11 hits for second-straight night
THE RUNDOWN
Baylor came out of the gate hot against Lamar, plating two in the top of the first after Shaylon Govan scored an unearned run on an error and Turiya Coleman stole home to go up 2-0.
The Cardinals got both runs back in the bottom half of the inning after scoring on a wild pitch and a double.
Tied 2-2, Baylor re-gained the lead in the top of the second after Ashlyn Wachtendorf tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly.
The Bears tacked on two runs on back-to-back singles in the third to score Karynton Dawson and Coleman who reached earlier in the inning on a fielder's choice.
Lamar got two runs back in the bottom of the third, before BU scored on a sac fly again in the fourth, but the Cardinals took the 8-6 lead after plating four runs in the fourth, three of which were unearned.
After allowing one baserunner in the fifth, reliever Lillie Walker struck out three to retire the Cardinals in the fifth.
Putting two on in the sixth and one in the seventh BU tried to get some runs back but ultimately fell against Lamar 8-6.
