Bears prepare for battle at San Diego State and San Diego
WACO, Texas – The 25th-ranked Baylor women's tennis team is on the road to California to face a pair of west-coast foes in San Diego State on Saturday at 12 p.m. and the University of San Diego on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
The Bears (4-1) have been on a hot streak since garnering their 25th ranking, taking down Nebraska and Denver, 5-2 and 4-0, respectively last weekend.
The last time Baylor went up against San Diego State was on March 9, 1993, in a match where the Aztecs won 9-0. 2001 saw the last match against Baylor and San Diego, with the Bears finding a 5-2 victory.
San Diego State has a 2-1 start to the season with wins over Point Loma and Grand Canyon, while San Diego has six matches in the books, split 3-3.
In the first edition of individual rankings from the spring dual-match season, Na Dong moved to No. 85 as the highest-ranked singles player for BU, followed by Kubacha in 117th. In doubles, Kosetenko and Tiglea were bumped one spot to No. 14.
San Diego boasts the 26th-best singles player in the nation in Kailey Evans, who has a 15-9 record throughout the academic year. She joins Claudia De Las Heras at No. 24 in doubles play.
