GAME NOTES
• This is the eighth meeting between the two programs with BU holding a 4-3 overall record with all four wins coming in Waco.
• The last time the two teams met was January 6, 2004 at the Ferrell Center where UTRGV took down BU 55-54.
• Baylor is 19-3 in season openers under Scott Drew, with last season's loss to No. 6 Gonzaga being the first loss to open the season since 2018.
• This is the first time since the 2022-23 season that BU has kicked off the season at home and the first time since unveiling the new Foster Pavilion.
• The Bears return 0.0% of their scoring, rebounding, assists, etc. The Bears are one of three high-major programs, including Miami and Memphis, with zero returning players from the 2024-25 season.
• This is the first time in program history Baylor has had zero returning players, losing four out of eligibility, nine to the transfer portal and one to the NBA.
• Baylor's 10 transfers is tied for fourth in the nation with the most transfers joining a team for the upcoming season. BU is one of seven teams in the power-five conferences with double-digit transfers.
• This is only the third time in the last 11 seasons Baylor has been unranked in the preseason AP Top 25. Both prior preseason unranked teams went on to win NCAA Tournament games, including the 2016-17 team that received no preseason votes before rising to No. 1 for the first time in program history.
• The Bears kicked off their season over the summer in Germany, representing Team USA in the FISU World University Games. Team USA came away with a silver medal finish with Obi Agbim earning Tournament MVP honors.
• Baylor's 35 wins against ranked opponents over the last six seasons are the third-most in the nation.
• The Bears are one of just three teams to win at least one NCAA Tournament game in each of the last six years it's been held (Gonzaga & Houston).
• Baylor is on a school-record streak of 13-consecutive postseason appearances, the nations fifth-longest active streak.
• Scott Drew is one of eight coaches in NCAA history, and the only one since 1990, to have won an NCAA title and an NIT Title at the same school. Calipari is the only other active coach to have won both tournaments
• Baylor has 8+ Big 12 wins for 14-straight seasons after winning 8+game just three times in the league's first 15 years.
• Baylor has 84 conference wins over the last seven seasons, second only to Kansas' 89, the next closest team in that span is Texas Tech with 75.
